A Roller Coaster Day

We learned early on in this journey that life with Tarlov's cysts is a roller coaster.  Sarah would feel almost normal one day and be flat on her back and in severe pain the next.  Today was a microcosm of the past six months.  The biggest challenge has been getting a handle on the post-op pain management.  We met with an internist early this afternoon and hopefully have a better game plan going forward.  Sarah also had her IV pull out of the vein, leading to huge swelling, and a few other assorted low lights of the day.  At the same time, she took her first steps, walking about 50 yards or so!

We know recovery is going to be a slow, uncertain process with more highs and lows, but all of your great support constantly lifts her spirits, so thank you all!!  We are very blessed to have so many folks in her corner.

  1. Please give her our love, and tell her that we are thinking of her. So exciting to hear that she was able to walk so far! But at the same time, we feel for her in coping with the post-op pain (and feel for you as you provide support to her). With love, K&T
