We had our post-surgery check in with Dr. Feigenbaum this afternoon. The most interesting part was viewing the pre-surgery and post-surgery MRIs. From the former to the latter -- POOF! -- the cysts in Sarah's sarcrum are gone. In fact, even a couple of the cysts that extend out into the pelvis appear smaller, since Dr. Feigenbaum was able to drain a bit of that fluid forward. In addition, we could actually see the wrapping around the nerve roots on last Friday's MRI. All in all, pretty cool.
Now we just hope and pray that this is not a temporary illusion but real magic that happened. If so, then we'll give him a pass on initially saying he worked on eight cysts, when in fact it was nine. After all, we didn't choose him for his counting acumen! And we also hope and pray that as the nerves calm down, Sarah's post-surgery symptoms will subside. Only time will tell on that, but Dr. Feigenbaum continues to exude optimism.
Tomorrow will be a big day. We travel home and can't wait to see family and friends! More once we are back and settled.
What a terrific report. We can't wait to see you. With love, K&T
